If You Leave Me Now ~
Performed by: Chicago ~
Music & Lyrics by: Peter Paul Cetera ~
I love this song! This "oldie but goodie" is one of my all-time favorite love songs from the 70's. Yea, it's one of those songs that I have heard since I was a little girl. The song was playing over and over and over again on my parents' radio, on their LP player, on their old cassette player, then on their CD player, for many, many, many years! It has been moving along with technology--nicely. My parents are still listening to this song as of today. "If You Leave Me Now," so well-loved by different generations, just lives through time, and strongly. It really is a timeless love song.
"If You Leave Me Now," Chicago's first number one hit and also their biggest hit world-wide, was written and sung by Peter Cetera, the band's bass guitar player. Within two years after being released, this song (belongs to their album "Chicago X") was sold over 1.4 million copies, alone in the US.
"If You Leave Me Now," needless to say, brought glorious fame to this American Rock band by winning the Grammy Awards, Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s), and Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus.
In July 1976, the song was released as a single and appeared as # 1 hit on the following charts:
Billboard Adult Contemporary
Australian Singles Chart
UK Singles Chart
Dutch Top 40
US Billboard Hot 100
European Hot 100 Singles
I have also upload the French version by one of favorite singers from Quebéc, Johnny Farago. To watch this beautiful French version, click on the link below: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF4ZN_FOjKg
